Return to Northern Territory, October 2012

Hi All, After my trip to the Northern Territory (Darwin and Gove) in February, I'm looking to return some time later this year - most likely in October. Plans at the moment are to stay in the Darwin area, probably for around 2 weeks. I'm hoping to get down to Adelaide River this time to photograph a...

RAAF Casualty Database

Hi All, As some of you may already be aware, earlier this year (on the RAAF's 91st Birthday), I launched a new website titled the "RAAF Casualty Database". This was built after discussions with members of the RAAF and other researchers earlier this year to try and 'link' sources of information such ...

Dutch MIA Cases

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone knew of a website/group/department which covers Dutch MIA cases. I'm specifically looking for someone who might be able to advise of the status of missing servicemen (ie, are they still missing or have they since been located/identified/buried). I'm particularly int...

Re: Sidney O. Westrom

Hi Sylvia, According to the American Battle Monuments Commission website , PFC WESTROM was declared dead on February 16, 1946. Using the 1 Year and 1 Day 'rule', this would mean that PFC WESTROM may have been killed on February 15, 1945. If this is the case, the 32nd Division was taking part in the ...

Visiting Darwin, February 2012 - 70th Anniversary

Hi All, I will be visiting Darwin from February 17-21 for the 70th Anniversary of the first Japanese attack (February 19). It would be great to meet up with anyone else who might also be in the area. On February 21 I will be flying to Gove (Nhulunbuy) and then back to Canberra on February 26. Cheers...

Re: P-70 Info sought

Hi Shawn, The Project PRIAM profile for this aircraft is available HERE . Unfortunately the MACR for this loss does not contain a great deal of information. If you have any further information about your uncle, please feel free to e-mail it through to mia@pacificwrecks.com and I'll have it added to ...

Re: Roy M Young Service ID 0-692112 Need info pls

Hi Sandie, 1/Lt Roy M YOUNG went missing aboard B-29 44-69665 on a mission to Kobe, Japan on June 5, 1945. The aircraft was intercepted by Japanese fighters and crashed 23 miles from the coast of Southern Honshu. Nine parachutes were seen. From what I can see, 1/Lt Young is the only person from this...

Missing Airmen at Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941)

Hi All, I'm currently trying to determine which US servicemen were lost in which aircraft during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. According to one article from Flight Journal a few years back, there are currently still 9 American airmen listed as missing - the details they give are that five wer...

I managed to pick this up from eBay. Not a bad book from what I've read so far - I really like the appendix of RAAF air-to-air claims.

Re: Need Help With An ETO MIA

Hi Michael, Unfortunately I do not know of a specific database of MIAs/Wrecks which covers the whole ETO, though there are a number of specialist sites out there (for various groups, services, regions etc). Best bet would be try http://www.armyairforces.com as a start. Here are some details from sea...
