Noel, I am glad that my original posting generated the interest that was pivotal in solving your mystery about the name of McIntyre Field. As I stated above, there is no AAF Form # 14 Accident report for this accident. There exists only a data sheet from the AAF Accident Report microfilm. Tony Mireles

Daniel, I have over 500 reels of USAAF accident report microfilm reels, ranging from January 1941 to January 1946. If you have any questions or need anything, don't hesitate to ask me. I'll be glad to contribute to your project in any way that I can. Tony Mireles Calumet City, IL http://www.warbirdc...

Missing AC from WWII
Daniel Leahy, Thank you for your help. I appreciate it. I am putting together a pretty good list of AAF airplanes that are/were missing in the theater. The bulk coming from the AAF Accident Report film reels. This list is not comprehensive. As I put my data base together, I would like cross off the ...

List of Missing A/C found in Asia/Pac Theater since WWII
Is there a master list or data base that I can access that lists all missing AAF airplanes in the Asia/Pacific Theater of Operations that have been found since WWII? Just need to know what has been found so far, I am willing to do the other hard work if I have to. Can someone point me in the right d...

Doolittle Raid Survey Ship Crash
Looking for any information concerning an AAF Douglas C-39 that crashed in Asia/China while enroute to survey airfields and set up nav-aids for use by the Doolittle Raid crews after the completion of their mission to Tokyo in April 1942. Not sure if the C-39 crashed in Asia/China or enroute. This in...

Missing B-24
Over 75 AAF airplanes remain missing in the United States and surrounding waters from WWII. Most had over water flight plans. Two are known to still be missing over dry land. One in Arizona (AT-6 Cadet Fischer) and one (UC-78) near Maggie, North Carolina. A P-38 missing since 1942 was found in 1997 ...

Re:Serial Numbers
Hi I think you will find these aircraft were USAF not RAAF. Try Peter Dunns site http://www.ozatwar.com for more info on the crash, there is a firsthand account of the accident on there. Cheers Rod Rod, That would be AAF as in USAAF. I'll try Dunn's site. I think he has the serial for the P-40 but ...

AAF crash
I have the microfilm AAF Foreign Accident Data Sheet (very incomplete) for this accident; there is no proper report for this accident. The link provided above is a good one for crash reports. Mike Stowe is knowledgable and helpful. Not free, but faster than waiting for one from Maxwell Field. Thanks...

B-24 losses
Al Blue was kind enough to answer an e-mail inquiry concerning the loss of these early B-24s. Al Blue says that the entry in his book is in error and that Lt. Kester was shot down off of Cable Beach in B-24 # 40-2374 on 3 March 1942. Also, 40-2370 was destroyed on the ground; 40-2373 was destroyed i...

B-24A
I stand corrected. Just re-checked the "B-24 NOSE ART DIRECTORY" by Wallace R. Foreman. The airplane "Arabian Nights" is listed as 40-2370. But the incomplete AAF Aircraft Accident Report for this crash/shootdown event (3 March 1942) states that the B-24 "carried the number 74". Not sure what that m...

Arabian Nights
Sorry, that would be lost in the Indian Ocean on 3 March 1942. Sorry for the error. The aircraft 40-2374 apparently is Arabian Nights according the the Foreman reference work. Kind enthusiasts had emailed weeks ago with the correct info and correct names. Thanks for your interest. Tony Mireles. http...
