MACR # 16433 states the aircraft in question was P-400 AP267. AP267 14-174 P400 Sumac USAAF 11-Mar-42 4-Apr-42 3-Apr-43 41stPS/35thPG Project X 11/03/42 to Aust 04/04/42 off Sumac 04/03/43 Off Left 04/08/44 So its a March 43 loss. Around Jan 1944 FJ-L was A24-61, per a copy I hold per radio message with CallSign VM-ZPE L at Broome 29/01/44,.....so A24-49 would have been FJ-A at this point up to 17/04/44 before A24-69 became FJ-A, before being recoded to what? FJ-L was A24-49 from May 1943 to September 43 at least as confirmed...

Hi Bob, Some extra details The Code for A24-49 was FJ-L, circa August-September 1943 onwards (originally when flown by Sqn Ldr Coventry on his "special missions"). Served with 20 Sqn 05/05/43 Coded FJ-L. Served with 11 Sqn 24/06/43. Crashed 28/04/44 Horn Island QLD after a mission to Manokwari. Cat ...

Hi Steve, Recapping; the 46th had B-17E 41-2440 per DAT VHCBC from mid 43 besides later having 41-2408 #97 on the 27/11/43. 41-2440 was absent thereafter post November 43 So,....seems to be a sky painted under O/D though, not disruptive RAF, though I doubt the scheme would still be around in 1944 po...
