Ballalae Aircraft Recoveries

Hi does anyone know what happened to the planes recovered by Craig Tuner & Greg Spooner in November 2007? There was a number of Zero centre sections, a Val,Oscar tail section, Betty section and a number of other parts. Did they make it to Australia or the UK? Cheers Rod

CAC Wirraway Preservation & Research

Am trying to research its history but only have a small tag on the frame which reads serial 09 311 part number 03 31150! It is the frame only and I am hoping to acquire so...

Re: She's in New Zealand

Hi well she should be in the States by now and hopefully will get the attention she deserves and restored to high standard. I hope there is no intention to fly her again as one crash is enough lol.

Re: Swamp Ghost to leave PNG?

Hi according to a recent magazine article The Swamp Ghost could well be on it's way to the US. The Director of the National Museum announced this back in September, I wonder if it is on it's way? I remember hearing of it's discovery in the 1970's as a kid and how well preserved it was then. One can ...

Re: Classic wings article -Shortland Island recovery-

Hi according to the article the wrecks recovered are the remains of two "Pete" floatplanes. There are no examples currently in any museum or in any state of preservation/restoration. Curtain Informed of war before Pearl Harbour

What a great show, research by Bob Wurth has uncovered Curtains relationship with the Japanese ambassador to Australia and how he tipped the PM off a week before Pearl Harbour. Curtain's standing up to Churchill must go down as one of those great moments in Australian's wartime history. For people l...

Val

Hi if it is the Val that had its tail in the air and only recently fell back down then this is still there (but not in the same place). Hope the recent tsumai did no damage to the low lying island too. Cheers Rod
