A little more info. The P-40 pilot was Bob Hazard. The a/c blew a tire. The transport was a Lockheed C-40. It was parked, with George and the others standing around it. B-24 Crash
2 B-24As were lost at Broome on 3 March '42. 40-2370 was shot down, and 40-2374 was destroyed on the ground. That is according to Allan G. Blue, in his book The B-24 Liberator.

Darwin crash 29 April, 1942
A P-40 on take off went out of control and crashed into George's transport
aircraft. He was formerly commander of fighter operations in the Phillippines and was evacuated to Austraila with McCarther. At the time if the accident, he was on an inspection tour of bases in Austraila.
