Japanese Planes

No, even using full-screen I can't see the enemy planes that well plus I'm not an expert on aircraft anyway.

Yes, Rod, I have my answers, thanks mostly to a veteran who was stationed at Johnson Air Base. That first little runway in Japan was Tokorozawa Airport, now part of the Aviation Museum. B-29's were the high-flying long-range bombers and various fighter planes were used towards the end of the war whe...

Thanks Adam

Thank you for that info. If you haven't checked the Books, Media forum yet, I entered a link for a YouTube video of P-51's strafing Japan. They were escorting a B-29. It's very interesting footage.

P-51's escorting B-29 videoclip

While doing some online research for the 2nd edition of a book I've written, I found this amazing footage of P-51s attacking Japan in 1945 on YouTube. Here's the link to this 5-minute tape. It is incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdAtIRef7I0 Linda Cherry Blossoms in Twilight http://www.moon...

Thank you, Chris

I searched on the internet and couldn't find anything conclusive except the B-29. My mom talks about the P-51s diving after people, but I could not verify that plane was used. It could have been near the end of the war when some of the islands nearer Japan were taken so the planes with smaller fuel ...

Warplanes over Japan

Does anyone here know what types of US warplanes were used over Japan during WWII? I know the B-29 was used - high flying recon, bombing runs - was it able to dive and strafe ground targets? Was the P-51 used? Posted on Wrecks&Losses to no avail so trying here. I'm working on a 2nd edition of a book...

Questions on Japan WWII

I am working on a book (second edition) on my Japanese mother's experience of WWII and the Occupation and hope someone here can help me with questions. She married an American serviceman but my dad can't help me with these questions. Tokorozawa had the first airstrip in Japan, is now part of the Tok...
