SOUTH PACIFIC AREA (SOPAC, Joint Chiefs of Staff): 12th Fighter Squadron, 15th Fighter Group moves from Christmas to Efate with P-39s.

IJN: At 3:00am Japanese Submarine I-20 launches HA-37 Midget Submarine but after developing a serious oil leak and unable to find targets, scuttled off Cape Esperance on Guadalcanal.
