Japanese aircraft carried a more dataplates than Allied built planes. With dataplates attached to aircraft in hundereds of locations and components [See Note]. This was a function of the nature of aircraft production in Japan, where various sub-contractors were creating components, and the part numbers allowed them verify quantities delivered to the parent company for final assembly.
