Location
Built prewar, small secondary airstrip. Also listed as 'Haleiwa Emergency Airstrip'.
Wartime History
On December 7, 1941, during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor unarmed B-1E 41-2429 landed at Haleiwa in an attempt to escape the attack. While being armed and refueled, Zero strafed the airfield.
Several P-40
Warhawks got airborne,
intercepted and shot down several Japanese aircraft. Pilots Ken Taylor
and George Welch drove here from Wheeler Field and down four planes each.
