Location
Located at Kavieng.

Construction
Japanese seaplane base.

Japanese Units Based at Kavieng Sea Plane Base:
958th Kokutai (F1M Pete & E13A Jake)

Today
Disused as a seaplane base since the war. Several aircraft wrecks in the adjacent water that were strafed or bombed while at anchor during the war.

Don Fetterly adds:
"30 meters away from the base lies a Pete however this is badly smashed about. Both these planes are just off the wartime float plane base at Kavieng. Further in shore there is a excellent Pete (Mitsubishi F1M). This is upside down and is remarkably intact except for a bad case of "anchor rash" through the stb wing section. This rash is only recently been done. I remember coming to kavieng some 18 years ago and dived on this plane and it was perfect."
