Location Lat 16° 42' 0" N Long 121° 41' 0" E Echague Airfield was located at an elevation of 206' / 62m to the west of Echague in Isabela Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Wartime History Starting in 1942 used as a military airfied by the Japanese Army Air Force. Developed into a military airfield with earthen ravetments to protect parked planes. Starting in late January 1945, targeted by U.S. bombers and fighter. On June 14, 1945 at sunset, Ki-51 Sonia from 52nd Dokuritsu Chutai (52nd Independent Squadron) took off from Echague Airfield on a flgiht bound for Formosa (Taiwan). This was the last Japanese aircraft to take off from a Philippines airfield during World War II.
