Clark Field Memorial to Boyd Wagner

The plaque reads:
"Lt. Col. Boyd 'Buzz' D. Wagner - First American World War II Ace Pilot - Lt. Col. Boyd 'Buzz' D. Wagner as a captain was the commander of the 17th Pursuit Squadron at Clark FIeld on 13 December 1941. He succeeded in downing the zero fighters in aerial combat over Aparii and destroyed five more on the ground at Vgan airfield. Awarded the 'Distinguished Service Cross' by General Douglas MacArthur for his heroic act, and later became the first American World War II ace pilot. Marker installed 01 September 2002 Clark Fevelopment Corporation." |
