Located near Marpi Point, at the base of Mount Marpi on the north end of the Saipan Island.

Construction
Built by the Japanese as a fighter airstrip, a single strip 4,380' in length.

American Usage
Occuped by American forces and repaired at the end of the world. Non-operational in December 1944,

American Units based at Marpi Point
After liberation , it was used by American aircraft.
VMF 512 (F4U) October - December 1945 to San Diego

Today
The former airfield is abandoned and overgrown.

Japanese Memorial Services
Japanese relatives have burn the skeletal remains of Japanese war dead at this location in the 1980's and 1990's.
