Location Lat 34° 59' 0" N Long 139° 51' 0" E Tateyama Seaplane Base was located at Tateyama on Nojima Cape (Nojima zaki) in Chiba Province and beyond the entance to Tokyo Bay and beyond Tokyo. Borders Tateyama Bay (Tateyama Wan) and beyond Uraga Channel (Uraga Kaikyo). Also known as "Tateyama Naval Air Base". Construction Built prewar as part of Tateyama Naval Air Base, includes Tateyama Airfield and Tateyama Seaplane Base. The seaplane base was located on 1,450 acres. Wartime History Tateyama Seaplane Base was used by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) until the official surrender of Japan. On August 13, 1945 shot down by anti-aircraft fire was F6F-5 Hellcat 79496 that crashed into the sea roughly 300 meters from the seaplane base.
