Wartime History
Japanese seaplane base, based F1M2 Pete and A6M2-N Rufe seaplanes.

Attacked by the RAAF begining in May 1943, anti-aircraft defense were increased but were unable to prevent losses.  The remaining aircraft were evacuated after June 1943.
