Location
Located on Jefman Island (Efman). Also known as Jefman Island Airfield. One of the most western Japanese airstrips
on New Guinea. A sister strip was located at Samate,
four miles across a straight.
Wartime History
Japanese aircraft, sometimes
flown from as far away as Celebes were temporarily based at the strip to attack American
forces after they occupied Biak.

Today
Used after the war by the Dutch
as a military airfield. The airfield
is still in use today servicing the Sorong area. Known as "Sorong-Jefman AIrport" or "Jefman Airport", code SOQ.
