Located at the southern corner of Moen Island. This installation was a seaplane base
Construction
After the February 1944 Operation Hailstone strike, a fighter airstrip was built 225' from the seaplane base with its runway parallel it. Two coral surfaced strip were built on fill, and eventually extended to connect with the seaplane base. The runways were 190 ' x 3,250' when completed. The adjacent Mt. Teroken were tunneled with caves for storage.
Today
Disused since the war. The remains of bunkers and a seaplane ramp
are near the Continental Hotel on the Southern
tip of Moen.
