Location
Located on Mesegon Island (Megeson). Also spelled 'Megeson'.

Construction
After the February 1944 "Operation Hailstone" attack on Truk, the Japanese began construction of an airstrip at Megeson for a fighter strip. They had made a clearing by April 29, 1944, but it was never completed. An observation tower was completed and some buildings built. In conjunction with the airfield construction, a detachment of 227th Construction Battalion was stationed on the island.
