Location
Lat 13° 4' 0S 131° 1' 59E  Payne Field was located on Mount Bundy Station at Adelaide River to the south of Darwin parallel to the Stuart Highway to the east of the Adelaide River. Also known as "Payne Field". Nearby is Adelaide River Airfield.

Wartime History
During 1942, used by Allied fighter aircraft as a base.

Naming Honors
During June 1942, named in honor of 2nd Lt. William H. Payne, Jr. killed June 10, 1942 piloting P-40E Warhawk 41-5557.
