Relatives
Bruce Carr (nephew of Stanley Carr)
"I have emailed dive organizations on Guam, but there doesn't seem to be any known TBM dive wrecks. My Dad has always been curious about his brothers demise, and now I too am interested to learn more (I am a former Navy pilot). My uncle was the rear gunner on the plane (Stanley Carr from VT-1 off the Yorktown). According to one document: “…was last seen trying to come out of his dive directly above the airstrip about 800 feet. His plane was burning in the engine and bomb bays indicating that his incendiary bombs were set afire. His plane was not seen to hit the ground.”
