Delivered March 1943 to RAF 54 Squadron. Coded DL-H "Butch III".

Wartime History
On June 20, 1943 took off piloted by F/O Hughes on a mission to intercept Japanese bombers and fighters over Darwin, climbing to the bomber formation at 27,000', he fired on two Ki-49 Helen bombers, and a "Zeke" (Ki-43 Oscar) below and fired on it. After this combat, the aircraft's engine siezed and he made a glide landing at Lee Point and force landed on the beach without injury. Later, this Spitfire was salvaged and repaired.

On April 5, 1944 P/O R E Featherstone crashed on take off from Wyndham Airfield. Aftter the crash, it was converted to components by 7 RSU.
