Built by Curtiss. Assigned to the U.S. Navy (USN) as SB2C-4 Helldiver bureau number 21078.

Wartime History
Assigned to Bombing Squadron 7 (VB-7). No known nickname or markings.

Mission History
On August 31, 1945 took off piloted by Ensign Winston W. Wilson with gunner ARM3c Paul M. Cutler on a routine flight and crashed near Tillamook in Oregon. Both crew were killed in the crash. When this aircraft failed to return it was declared missing.

Memorials
Both crew members were officially declared dead the day of the mission.

Wilson has an unknown burial presumably in his hometown in the United States.

Cutler has a memorial marker at Memory Grove Memorial in Salt Lake City, UT.

"Paul McEwan Cutler, 21, A R M 3/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Cutler, 5106 Holladay Blvd., has been missing since Aug. 31, after a routine training flight. An aerial gunner, he was stationed at Astoria, Ore. Born Feb. 2, 1924, in Salt Lake City, he received his education here and was graduated from South High School, where he was an ROTC officer. He attended the University of Utah prior to enlisting in the Navy in December, 1943. Awaiting further word besides his parents are a twin brother, Ens. Grant M. Cutler, Corpus Christi, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Betty C. Jones, Provo; Mrs. Margie C. Jacob, and Mrs. Catherine Musser, Salt Lake City."
