Reported to be built for the RAF as PBY-5B FP216, but was neve delivered. After the war, it was assigned to NAS Pensacola for the Land Survival Training Center from 1945-1992.

Donated and restored by the National Musuem of Naval Aviation, dedicated in 2002, it is displayed beneath the hanging PBY-5 08317 as a cutaway view of the fuselage.
