Aircraft History
Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Delivered U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40F Warhawk serial number unknown. Disassembled and shipped overseas to the South Pacific (SoPAC) and reassembled.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 13th Air Force (13th AF), 347th Fighter Group (347th FG), 68th Fighter Squadron (68th FS). No known nickname or nose art.

Mission History
On February 27, 1943 at 4:15pm took off from Henderson Field on Guadalcanal piloted by 1st Lt. Jackson B. Lewis on a mission over Vella Lavalla and engaged in a dogfight with Japanese aircraft. This P-40 was last seen crashing into the sea near Vella Lavalla. When this aircraft failed to return it was listed as Missing In Action (MIA).

Memorials
Lewis was officially declared dead the day of the mission. He is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing.
