Aircraft History Built by Curtiss in Buffalo, New York. Constructors Number 27565. Delivered to the U.S. Army Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-40M-10-CU Warhawk serial number 43-5877. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia as part of defense aid and reassembled. Wartime History During June 1943, assigned to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as P-40M-10-CU Kittyhawk serial number A29-384. Assigned to No. 86 Squadron. Later assigned to No. 77 Squadron and 2 Operational Training Unit (2 OTU). On April 3, 1945 took off on a flight and while landing at Rockhampton Airfield this P-40 suffered a landing accident and was damaged. Afterwards, repaired but showed the aircraft was unsafe for further flying. Instead, placed into storage for the remainder of World War II. Afterwards, written off and offered for disposal. Wreckage This aircraft is owned by John Fallis in Lafayette, Louisiana.
