Aircraft History
Built by Kawasaki. True serial number unknown. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 99 Light Bomber Kyu Kyu Sohkei / Ki-48-II Lily manufacture number unknown.

Wartime History
Assigned to an unknown Hiko Sentai (Flying Regiment). No known markings or tail code.

Mission History
This Lily crashed into a marshy lowland near in the Maprik area near the Sepik River.

Wreckage
This Lily has the left engine still attached to the wing. The right engine is ripped off from the crash and located ahead of the aircraft.  The Tail and fuselage are broken in two sections and interior stripped.

Nathan Vllrath adds:
"I took these photos from a helicopter. The helicopter pilot (Bill Cristobal) offered to set down so I could get better photos and I waived the opportunity.  I've kicked myself many times since then."
