Wartime history unknown. Captured during the occupation of Japan, and flown to the USA
for technical evaluation, then donated to the Smithsonian in 1946 as a fuselage only. The engine and wings were either lost or scrapped.
Display
Restored to preserve its state, and in storage at the NASM's
Paul E. Garber Facility until 2003. Today, it is displayed at the
NASM Udvar-Hazy Center.
