MIA April 27, 1944(?)
Discovered 1988 by Bruce Fenstermaker
Wartime History
It is presumed this Oscar was being chased by P-47
42-75940, that went MIA. It appears the Oscar was a victim of a high
speed stall while dog fighting with the P-47, causing both to crash
on
Biak Island.
Wreckage
Wreckage of Oscar includes section of wing, fuselage, tail, engine and
machine guns, and probably a Japanese MIA site.
Bruce Fenstermaker reports:
"Located 200m from Frankford's P-47
42-75940, is the wreckage of this
Ki-43, this might be the Oscar that Frankford was chasing and both high
speed stalled. That is my speculation."
