Aircraft History This Oscar is a replica Type 1 Fighter / Ki-43-III Oscars built by Texas Aircraft Factory with a Pratt & Whitney R-1830-92 engine. Reportedly, the restoration used original parts from the wreckage of four Oscar recovered from the Kuril Islands plus newly manufactured parts and materials. Restored during the late 1990s and early 2000s. When completed, painted in the markings of Type 1 Fighter / Ki-43-III Oscar Manufacture Number 15267 assigned to the 54th Sentai, 2nd Chutai in China-Burma-India (CBI).
