Aircraft History Built by Vought. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as F4U-1 Corsair bureau number unknown. Disassembled and shipped to the South Pacific (SOPAC). Wartime History Assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) to an unknown squadron. Code V-166B. Mission History This Corsair force landed near Henderson Field and was abandoned. Wreckage In the early 1970s, recovered to the Vilu War Museum for display. A "16" was visible on the left side of the fuselage. This marking has since faded.
