Aircraft History Built by Mitsubishi on December 26, 1941. True serial number 132. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 0 Observation Seaplane / F1M2 Pete manufacture number 3132. Wartime History This Pete operated from Rekata Bay Seaplane Base. By August 1943 abandoned at Rekata Bay. Wreckage Sometime between September 1943–November 1943 a team of Americans from Technical Air Intelligence Unit (TAIU) visited Rekata Bay to study the abandoned Japanese airplane and seaplane wreckage in the area. This Pete was investigated and the manufacture number noted. No tail code or markings were noted. The team estimated the Pete unserviceable or disabled by August 12, 1943. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared. This Pete was later reported in (CEAR) Crashed Enemy Aircraft Report (CEAR) #17 released on February 15, 1944.
