Built by Douglas. Constructor number 1944. Call sign PH-ALW. Transfered to KNILM on June 2, 1940 and operated in the Netherland East Indies.
Wartime History
Eacaped Netherland East Indies to Australia on May 1, 1942. Transferred to Australian government on March 19, 1942. Next, assigned to USAAF (ADAT) on May 15, 1942, and assigned USAAF serial number 41-1944, locally.
Ttransfered to RAAF 21 Squadron and assigned call sign VH-CXE. Used by General MacArthur as a transport during 1942-1943. Next, assigned to 36 Squadron on August 15, 1943 with call sign VH-CXL. Afterwards to ANA on April 1, 1944. Designated C-49H USAAF serial number 44-83229 for administrative purposes on March 17, 1945.
Postwar
On May 22, 1946 operated by ANA as "Oana" registerd as VH-ANR
. Next, owned by Ansett-ANA during October 1957 and operated by Butler Air Transport during April 1958. Then Airlines of New South Wales during early 1959.
Storage & Display
Stored at Schofield begining July 24, 1972, and later transfered to Camden Airport during November 1974. Today, display at Queensland Air Museum.
