Mission History
This RAAF air ambulance departed Morotai for Darwin, via Ambon. The flight to Ambon was uneventful. The aircraft, under the control of PLTOFF Francis Robinson, departed Ambon at 10.40AM. Approximately one hour into the flight, a message was received from the aircraft stating that they wished to place a message. Darwin Aeradio replied with "Go Ahead" - no response was ever heard from the aircraft.

It is probable that the aircraft got into trouble due to adverse weather conditions and had to ditch or land on one of the islands in the Timor area. In the days after this incident, at least three messages and one continous note were picked up. The crew, nor the 20 passengers on board have never been found.
