Pilot F/O Keith Hindmarsh, RAAF 405735 (KIA / BR) Kilcoy, QLD Crashed April 26, 1944 Aircraft History Built by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC). Constructors Number 971. During October 1943 delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as CA-13 Boomerang serial number A46-148. Mission History On April 26, 1944 took off from Gusap Airfield piloted by F/O Keith Hindmarsh on a tactical reconnaissance mission bound for the Alexishafen area. When this aircraft failed to return, it was officially listed as Missing In Action (MIA). Also lost is Boomerang A46-119. Wreckage In 1946, a RAAF Searcher Team located this Boomerang in the Shaggy Ridge area . The remains of Dann remains were recovered. Evidence suggested this aircraft collided with Boomerang A46-119. Memorials Hindmarsh was officially declared dead the day of the mission. After his remains were recovered, he was buried at the Lae War Cemetery at grave N. A. 8.
