Pilot F/O Lindsay Alfred James Dann, RAAF 401918 (KIA / BR) Geelong, VIC Crashed April 26, 1944 Aircraft History Built by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC). Constructors Number 942. During August 1943 delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as CA-13 Boomerang serial number A46-119. Wartime History Assigned to No. 4 Sqadron. No known nickname or nose art. On January 9, 1944 this Boomerang made a wheels up landing at Gusap Airfield. Afterwards, repaired and returned to service. Mission History On April 26, 1944 took off from Gusap Airfield piloted by F/O Lindsay A. J. Dann on a tactical reconnaissance bound for the Alexishafen area. When this aircraft failed to return, it was officially listed as Missing In Action (MIA). Also lost is Boomerang A46-148. Wreckage In 1946, a RAAF Searcher Team located this Boomerang in the Shaggy Ridge area. The remains of Dann were recovered. Evidence suggested this aircraft collided with Boomerang A46-148. Memorials Dann was officially declared dead the day of the mission. After his remains were recovered he was buried at the Lae War Cemetery at grave N.A.7.
