Pilot  P/O L. D. Langusch, 405744 (KIA)
Navigator  Sgt N. E. Greasley, 205761

Aircraft History
Beaufighter A19-12 was originally allocated the RAF serial T4931 before being delivered to the RAAF in April 1942. It was received at No. 2 Aircraft Depot, Bankstown before going to No. 30 Squadron the following June.

Mission History
On August 5, 1942 the aircraft was en route from its base at Richmond, NSW to Laverton in Victoria. It went missing some time after a short stop-over at Benalla, Victoria. Three days later the wreckage was found to be spread over a wide area near the peak of Mount Disappointment. Both crew members were killed. Any usable components were recovered from the crash site and taken to No. 1 Aircraft Depot to be converted.

Wreckage Post War
As the crash site is located near a road in the area, there are no longer any visible signs of aircraft remains, though it is still clear that the crash took place. Burnt and cut trees are still visible, and vegetation has not regrown where oil had been spilt.
