Aircraft History
Built by North American, this B-25 was modified in the United States then ferried to Australia, and assigned to the 22nd Bombardment Group, 2nd Bombardment Squadron during the summer of 1943.
Flew at least two combat missions: the first October 11, 1943
Mission History
Took off from Dobudura on training mission. While practicing formation flying over the Dobodura area, this bomber collided with B-25D 41-30604 (which returned safely
to Dobodura), its propeller cut off one of this bomber's tail stabilizers and caused it to crash 6km north of Dobudura, killing the entire crew.
Memorials
The crew was declared dead the day of the crash. They are buried at Manila American Cemetery, Brown: Plot A Row 13 Grave 110. Johnson: Plot A Row 2 Grave 126. KeanePlot D Row 4 Grave 158. The other members of the crew are likely buried in private cemeteries.
