Aircraft History
Built by North American Aviation (NAA) in Inglewood. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25C Mitchell serial number 41-12487. Purchased by the Netherlands East Indies Air Force (NEIAF) as B-25C Mitchell serial number N5-1?? (last two digits unknown). Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia and retained by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF).

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 3rd Bombardment Group (3rd BG), 90th Bombardment Squadron (90th BS). Nicknamed "Miss Snafu". Assigned to Lt. Robert D. Chatt with co-pilot 2nd Lt. Clifford "Kip" Wonderly.

Mission History
On May 15, 1943 took off from 7 Mile Drome near Port Moresby piloted by 1st Lt Nelson P. "Lefty" Ingram Jr. on a night attack against Lae, the approach being from the Markham Valley to Huon Gulf. It is thought that this B-25 might have crashed on the seaward end of Lae Airfield. When this B-25 failed to return the crew was officially declared Missing In Action (MIA).

Memorials
The entire crew was officially declared dead the day of the mission. All are memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing.

Ingram earned the Air Medal, Purple Heart, posthumously.

Key earned the Air Medal, Purple Heart, posthumously.

Clifford earned the Air Medal, Purple Heart, posthumously.

Harrell earned the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart, posthumously. He also has a memorial marker at Terry Cemetery in Terry, MS.
