Crashed near Alola, near Isurava.
Wreckage
Known to trekers on the Kokoda trail, it was reported to
be a crash site, with the hinomaru still visible. In October 2003,
the site was investigaged by the Japanese Minister of Health & Welfare.
To date, no firm identity of this Zero has ever been presented. The Japanese Ministry of Health & Welfare visit the crash in 2003, but caused
a landowner dispute, that made the wreck off limits. A piece of its
propeler is displayed at Isurava. According to locals who witnessed
the crash, the Zero was shot down by Australian gunners.
