Wartime History
Crashed near Alola, near Isurava.

Wreckage
Known to trekers on the Kokoda Trail, it was reported to be a crash site, with the hinomaru still visible.

A piece of its propeler is displayed at Isurava. According to locals who witnessed the crash, the Zero was shot down by Australian gunners, but this is not historically feasible.

In October 2003, the site was investigaged by the Japanese Minister of Health & Welfare. To date, no firm identity of this Zero has ever been presented. The Japanese Ministry of Health & Welfare visit the crash in 2003, but caused a landowner dispute, that made the wreck off limits.
