Captain Daniel T. "Danny" Roberts with P-38H Lighting 42-66834
On the left side of the nose is a scoreboard with Japanese rising sun flags (7x2) indicating his 14 aerial victory claims. Below is the serial number stencil. Roberts' left hand is resting on the plane's left drop tank. Behind him is a toolbox. On November 9, 1943 took off piloting P-38H Lightning 42-66834 on an escort mission over Alexishafen Airfield. During air combat, P-38H 42-66546 pilot 2nd Lt. Dale O. Meyer accidentally collided with him east of Alexishafen Airfield.
