WEDNESDAY, 17 JUNE 1942

ALASKA (11th Air Force): A patrol mission and bombing mission against Kiska Harbor is cancelled due to weather.

IJN: Japanese G4M1 Bettys escorted by A6M2 Zeros strike Port Moresby targeting MV MacDhui that is damaged by a bomb in the stateroom.

5th AF: Airacobras took off to intercept incoming Japanese air raid by Bettys and Zeros. P-400 Airacobra pilot 2nd Lt. Charles P. Sullivan claims a G4M1 Betty shot down over Port Moresby, his first aerial victory.

RAN: MV MacDhui is damaged in Fairfax Harbor by Japanese bombs with ten crew killed and wounded but docks at Port Moresby.
